Personality:Mindy Macready is not your typical ten year old girl. On the surface, she has the potential to appear as a typical tomboy. She doesn't comb her hair, likes to curse and fight, and has a strong male role model as her main influence. She's a quick study, has a keen eye for detail and hasn't had the typical childhood by any means.
If she was just a tomboy though, she wouldn't be half as interesting. Her father was a cop, so he knows that there are as many rules to follow as there are to break, and that justice isn't always going to fall onto the right person. Her father was framed by a local mob-boss and sent to jail, while her mother, who was still pregnant with her, couldn't cope and overdosed. Mindy was born and entrusted to Damon's partner Marcus. Marcus did the best he could for those five years while Damon was in prison, but as soon as Damon was out Mindy's father figure shifted from a Good Cop to a "Good" (stating that he was good at doing it) Vigilante.
Mindy was raised to be a fighter. Trained to focus on justice, with a heavy preference toward righting the wrongs that had been done to her father, she followed every guideline her father provided her with during her training. While Mindy is only seen in the movie taking on fights that are linked to D’Amico, I assume that her training involved taking down smaller criminal activities. In fact there’s one point where her father tells her “No more homework” which in my mind means that she’s been doing a lot of small jobs and training with things that weren’t seen onscreen.
She actually enjoys all of the things her father teaches her, because he's her dad. He's the one that she wants to impress and make sure he knows just how much she cares about him. Everything she does - the fighting, the training, probably to an extent the language she uses, is all so that she can be someone her dad can be proud of. In fact, she wants his approval and blindly doesn't realize that she doesn't need to work so hard to get it. When he gives her two Balisongs for her birthday, she begins to flip them while he quizzes her on different weapon facts; she answers them - with accuracy, but is also trying to get him to look at her while she's flipping the blades. She craves that in the moment attention, probably more from her dad than she had from Marcus when she was living with him. It probably mostly relates to the fact that she does realize that what they’re doing could take him away from her again and she’d like to make sure she gets the most out of this time.
She's determined to do a good job and wants to make sure that she gets the approval of those around her. When she's fighting Kick Ass's attackers, after each kill, she glances back to Kick Ass, smirking, as if to say, "Hey, this is great - did you see that? How am I doing?" Of course, Kick Ass is mostly terrified because she's ten years old and executing people without any hesitation. It’s that need for approval though that’s a constant for her. Whether it’s from her father or from another hero that she thinks is worthy of judging her, she wants to be liked and accepted not only for who she is, but what skills she has. She offers a hand to Red Mist when he shows up, blindly assuming that since Kick Ass likes him, she should like him too. Of course, this gets her shot and out a window, but she starts out with trust because she assumed that she should be liked by this guy too. (Moving forward from this point though, she would be a lot more guarded because the Red Mist situation did end up with her dad dead.)
Mindy as a girl has a good sense of humor. She's able to joke around with her father, pulling his chain and asking for very typical girly toys for her birthday. She's not the typical girl though. There aren't any dolls or tea parties in her future. The movie only spans the time of a few months, but there's a lot of growing up for her in that time. She goes from just training, to recruiting Kick Ass to continue his fighting. She can see potential in him, probably based on her own experiences of her father telling her what things that she's done well. Mindy also knows that it's not always the skill, but the intent to do these things that isn't easy to find. Heroes that aren't exactly the common in their world, so to find someone that's willing to take a stand, in Mindy's mind, is a good enough start. She takes her father’s view on him to heart as well, (being called Ass Kicked) knowing that he needs their help as much as they might need his.
She's very aware of the difference between being Mindy the daughter of Damon Macready and being Hit Girl the sidekick to Big Daddy. Mindy keeps her identity hidden when she's Hit Girl, even when it's her father's last moments in the warehouse. She understands the importance of keeping her identity separate from the actions that she commits, probably because she's killing people at age ten. It’s probably also part of her training that when she has the mask on she can disconnect from things a bit better. She can isolate and attack, which for such an emotional scene she doesn’t want those emotions to overtake her and get the best of her. It’s a HUGE thing for a girl to lose her father, even worse to see him die in front of her, but Mindy has taken her training so seriously, that she uses this hurt and anger as motivation. Just like her own father used his own emotions to get him to focus on D’Amico.
Post the canon point that I’m taking her from Mindy is trying to adjust to being a normal girl. She’s living with Marcus again and it’s clear that the sort of training that she did doesn’t just take a backseat. It’s also very clear that she was never charged with any of the crimes she committed. Even with Marcus (a cop) being her guardian, she seems to be attempting to live a normal life, like a normal girl. Even though she is very aware that she’s not typical at all. She still manages to stand up for herself, protect herself and not take things too far, since it is a school.
Powers/Abilties:
Mindy has no super powers, but she is trained to kill. She's well-versed in a plethora of weapons, fight tactics, and has no issue with killing those she feels are on the wrong side of justice. Her time in Paradisa has mellowed her views on this slightly, but she is still a very dangerous little girl.
Appearance: Mindy came into Paradisa at age 10. (This is an estimate based on the actresses age during filming and remarks made in the screenplay and in the special features. The screenplay lists her father as 35. Which... he's Nic Cage. He looks older than 35.)
Since she's coming from Paradisa, she'll be without any of her possessions that she had in the castle, including her Hit Girl uniform, since she doesn't wear that all the time. This will be a problem. Just as an FYI.

How has your character changed from their canon self?
Mindy came into Paradisa straight from the middle of her fight with D'Amico. She was getting her ass kicked and then she showed up in the castle. It was a bit jarring for her, but that didn't actually sound any less crazy than the thought that she had been there before. Mindy still stayed very true to her training. She went on patrols, she beat up thugs and delinquents. She tried to maintain her role as Hit Girl but she also had the chance to experience a lot of things that she never would have the chance for back home. People cared about her, worried about her, and sometimes even took care of her. She went from having a single task of making her father proud of what she could achieve to having a network of friends and "family" that made her take time to do things that she wanted to do. It didn't overly socialize her, because she was still determined to make sure she held onto the things that her father taught her, but she was able to be a kid for most of the time.
She's still blunt, still mouths off and swears, but she's more aware of it now and aware of how it looks to people. In truth, her father didn't swear and she got most of her language from the films she watched and in an effort to look tough. It's a much more conscious choice that she makes, but usually it's after the fact. Her impulse control is also something she's aware of, but she still hasn't learned about how to restrain it.
Giving her a better chance at a normal life, she's much more balanced as far as her little kid side and her Hit Girl persona. She still holds her father as the ideal and rarely discussed his death with anyone. She talked 'of it' but never about it. She had a pet, so she also learned responsibility and how to take care of something on her own.
She's also aware that her father looks like Nic Cage, so parallel worlds and alternate universes are something she's okay with.
The main relationships that she built up were with Damian Wayne, Brock Samson, Molotov Cocktease, Max Guevara, and Neal Caffrey. The range of those characters easily displays the sort of impact they had on her. Damian had the teachings of Bruce Wayne and she rubbed off on him as much as he rubbed off on her. Teaching her about not killing people and ensuring that justice is served (even if she thought it was crap). He was her best friend and they even shared an AU future world loss together where she had been a part of his world (Batman 666 verse) and had been his partner since they were kids. There were a lot of psychological things that Mindy had to tackle with that, but for the most part her friendships were good things for her and they gave her people to trust that weren't her dad.
Mindy arrived in the castle September 18th, 2010. I decided in game that her birthday was April 29th. She left the castle in the middle of May 2012. She's gotten older, she's made friends, gone through losses and world changes. She's seen a lot and I think it makes her easier to play in these sort of settings because she is used to the crazy of the castle and so she'll be easier to settle into a new environment. Even if she still hates it.
Are they gaining any abilities from their time in game? Did the game setting take something from them?
Mindy is not gaining any abilities, but the game that she is coming from is Paradisa. In order to become a resident within the castle, the castle will take one thing from your character upon entry, which is considered their loss. Mindy's loss was memories of Dave Lizewski. Here is her original loss with reason from Paradisa:
+ All memories of Kick Ass (Dave Lizewski) - This means she believes she went after D’Amico on her own. That she only went to the webcast to stop them from unmasking and beating up her Dad. That Red Mist found them on his own, among other smaller details. The most important is that she went after D’Amico on her own, without backup.
